Welcome to Host Atom. This is a web hosting review site where we talk about the best web hosting companies, their features and what is good about them.

So far HostBandit and their $1 web hosting is our favorite web site hosting company. They have a super simple signup process and their control panel is faster and more simple than the others out there.

Mostly we discuss shared linux hosting that offer php/mysql web hosting to host popular applications like Wordpress, phpbb, vbulletin, Magento (e-commerce), Drupal, Joomla, and others.

Sometimes we make a distinction as to which type of web host we are reviewing, such as Wordpress web hosting, E-commerce web hosting, general web hosting, non-profit web hosting, $1 web hosting, etc.
A customer needs to evaluate the requirements of the application to choose what kind of hosting to use. Such considerations include database server software, scripting software, and operating system. Most hosting providers provide Linux-based web hosting which offers a wide range of different software. A typical configuration for a Linux server is the LAMP platform: Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP/Perl/Python. The web hosting client may want to have other services, such as email for their business domain, databases or multimedia services. A customer may also choose Windows as the hosting platform. The customer still can choose from PHP, Perl, and Python but may also use ASP .Net or Classic ASP. Web hosting packages often include a Web Content Management System, so the end-user does not have to worry about the more technical aspects.

We hosting companies are important because they allow you to have the face of your company, organization, or personality online 24/7. You wouldn't normally be able to do this with your home computer because you would have a lot of electricity bills, and if your power went out or you accidentally tripped on the cord then the world would be without your web site. So web hosting companies allow your web site to be online 24/7 and with a much higher connection speed than you can get at home.

The availability of a website is measured by the percentage of a year in which the website is publicly accessible and reachable via the internet. This is different from measuring the uptime of a system. Uptime refers to the system itself being online, however it does not take into account being able to reach it as in the event of a network outage.

A hosting provider’s SLAs may include a certain amount of scheduled downtime per year in order to perform maintenance on the systems. This scheduled downtime is often excluded from the SLA timeframe, and needs to be subtracted from the Total Time when availability is calculated. Depending on the verbiage of an SLA, if the availability of a system drops below that in the signed SLA, a hosting provider often will provide a partial refund for time lost.

So sit back and enjoy our honest reviews of the web hosting companies that we review. We don't review everyone so if you want your company to be reviewed we might do it, no promises, if you contact us with your details.
